An award-winning professional musician, educator, and obesity education activist. I had gastric bypass surgery on 3/25/08 and have maintained a loss of 150 lbs. My website is www.divataunia.com. I spent the better part of my adult life as a morbidly obese woman who had to really go on a quest to find anything fashionable. So now? I loe to celebrate the beauty, strength and sex appeal of ALL women (and men!) in every shape, size, age, background, etc. There is beauty in diversity! I'm also a passionate advocate of both size acceptance AND healthy weight and living. The two are not mutually exclusive. I fight the good fight daily against weight bias and discrimination - one of the last socially acceptable forms of prejudice. I also fight the good fight to maintain my weight and my health as a post-operative gastric bypass patient. I was formerly morbidly obese, and now I'm not. I know the difference between discrimination and advocacy for better health.
