REVIEW: PANTENE MOISTURE WHIP: I’M WHIPPED!

29 Apr

It’s no secret that I am a bleach blonde.  Not only that, but I’m a do-it-yourself-at-home bleach blonde.  Because of that, my hair is not in the greatest condition.  In other words: it’s fried more than any pre-diabetes Paula Deen recipe you’ve ever seen.  My hair takes a LOT of work to keep managed, and I’m always trying to find the best products to tame the wild blonde rat’s nest upon the top of my hair.

I’m a tried and true fan of John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease, but that’s really just to tame the wild frizzies.  I still need a styling product, and I’ve been struggling to find one that worked well with the Frizz-Ease and made my hair soft and manageable.  Cue:  Pantene’s new Moisture Whip.

I was a little concerned about trying it because anything that’s “mousse-y” never works for me.  It always dries out my hair and works against the de-frizzing from my other product.  Still, I figured at about $6.00 a pop, it was worth a try.  I was right.  I. AM. IN. LOVE.

ImageAlthough it dispenses like a mousse, you only need about a quarter-size dollop of it.  After about 3 days of using it, my hair suddenly became silky-soft and I was able to style it exactly the way I wanted to – whether it was a straight or wavy look.  And when I straighten it, I can go about two days without washing it – it just looks and feels THAT GOOD.  Even my husband Jake commented on how soft my hair was and how pretty it looked.  Two thumbs up from the hubs.

Here’s the info from the Pantene website :

Product # SPK-A0502. Pantene’s Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Whip helps hair feel moisturized for up to 48hours, helps protect against heat damage and regulate hair’s moisture- delivering silky hair that shines.

And check out the printable Pantene coupons here on the P&G website:  $2.00/ off one Pantene Product

If you color your hair or suffer with the super-frizz like I do, you will LOVE this product.  I am praying to the hair gods that this product doesn’t get discontinued.  I love, love, love it!

REMINGTON I-LIGHT PRO UPDATE

7 Mar

So, I’ve gotten a bunch of questions in the background about the results of my Remington i-Light Pro system.  Most of them have been from other gals with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), so I thought that I’d give an update and also post a link – because hot damn, it’s on sale!

So the first thing is a repeat of the disclaimer from Remington’s Regulatory Department in regards to the i-Light Pro usage with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome:

There is no data to suggest you cannot use the IPL and by the same token, there is no data to suggest you can use.  The unit has not been tested on people with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.  Furthermore, the IFU does not contraindicate this issue.  My recommendation to the you would be to proceed with caution if you want to try out the device.  Perform a test patch, wait a couple days.  If you have a good outcome and did not react poorly to the device, you should continue to use.

I liked that they were pretty frank about the usage with PCOS, and decided to go ahead and try it anyways.  Glad I did, because I’ve had excellent results.

ImageI have two small patches on the left and right side of my chin.  I’ve been going to electrolysis for years now to keep it at bay, but since moving to CA, I wanted to find a cheaper and easier alternative.  The cost of this machine (now at approx $225-ish dollars) is WAY cheaper than $60 every two weeks all year long (uh hello, $1560 per year!!!).

The cartridges run about $25 a piece and last for quite a while (also important to note:  I found them on clearance at Walmart for  $10 a piece!).

But now to answer the important question:  does it work??The answer for me is YES.

I had set some pretty realistic expectations, though.  After years of going to electrolysis and still having to maintain a pretty aggressive schedule with it, I knew from the get-go that this wouldn’t be a “miracle” machine for me, meaning that I would be happy if the re-growth was (much) less and (much) slower coming back in.  And it is both, I am happy to say.

I’ve maintained a pretty strict schedule about it: about six weeks of usage and two treatments a week (about 3 days apart from each other to give the skin time to heal).  I’m VERY happy with the results, and it has completely eliminated the need for electrolysis for me (although I’ll admit there’s a little “maintenance” needed in between treatments – but nothing major). Overall, I’m very, very happy with the results and feel confident suggesting this to other folks.

So there you have it.  If you get one and have good results, please let me know –  I’d love to hear if it works for you!

T-MOBILE UPDATE

20 Nov

In case you haven’t guessed it, my T-Mobile problems have been resolved for the time being.  After much complaining online (and a boot from my Twitter account!), T-Mobile finally responded via telephone.  We negotiated some terms: they made it right, and I confirmed with them that I would not give the specific details about that.  I know that’s a bit of a let-down to not know the specifics, but  I can tell you I upgraded my phone and they asked for an opportunity to earn back my business.

The really great part about it was that when I spoke to the supervisor on the phone, he was interested in my feedback and definitely understood why I was so frustrated.  They’re trying to find that delicate balance between automated/fast customer service and personal interaction.  They were very open to hearing me and my feedback and I appreciated that.

So, as of right now, I’m feeling validated and happy with the negotiations.  I don’t encourage people to make a stink about stuff, but sometimes you really DO have to stand up for principals and what’s right.  I’m glad I did!

MY NEW SPONSOR: WELLESSE LIQUID BARIATRIC SOLUTIONS

5 Apr

As many of you know, I have a strict no-negative review policy.  Because of this, I’m very selective about my sponsors and I only partner with the companies and products that I truly do love.  And love, I do, my newest sponsor:  Wellesse Liquid Bariatric Solutions:

For any new post-operative patient, these are FANTASTIC.  The doses is small, liquid, and tastes GREAT.  In fact, the calcium tastes like a creamsicle smoothie to me!  Even though I’m four years out and don’t need to have liquids, I have been using them for the past week to try them out, and I’m pretty happy with all of them.  They can be taken as a quick 2 oz shot all on their own, or you can mix them into juice, water, OR try out MY brilliant idea:

Come ON!  How fun would this make taking your vitamins?   I’m serious.  Whip up your little snow cone with any of the great berry and citrus flavors they offer.  I  think that this is really stroke of genius on my part.   Just sayin’.

Most of their  products are sugar-free AND gluten-free (score!), and they’re naturally sweetened with Stevia  (note: not ALL of their products have Stevia – some do have sucralose (the Calcium, Glucosamine, B complex) and the Vitamin D 1000 IU is not sugar free, but they do use Stevia whenever possible!).  Honestly?  I think this stuff rocks and you should try it – especially if you are a brand new post-op searching for vitamins and supplements that are easy on to get down.  And you know I have a Diva discount for you!

Valentine’s Love : Reviews & Sponsors!

14 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Since I am home sick and single, I thought I’d show some love to some of my favorite new sponsors and companies.  Remember:  my policy is that I only review products I love.  There’s tons that don’t make it here on the blog, but the ones that do?  You can be sure that I say what I mean:  I  ♥  them.

Mally Beauty:

This fabulous new line was created by makeup artist to the stars: Mally Roncal.  Mally is a favorite among a versatile group of music industry heavyweights and actors including; Beyonce (!), Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Hayden Panettiere, Rihanna, Teri Hatcher, Celine Dion, Lee Ann Womack, and Ashlee Simpson.  She created a new line of products that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with.

The packaging is gorgeous, and the products feel like silk.  I swear, I’m not even exaggerating – they really do!  I tired the Perfect Prep Poreless Primer,  (pictured)  the Ultimate Performance Liquid Foundation, and the Liquid Face Defender.  All three products were the lightest, silkiest products I’ve ever put on my face.  I’m particularly in love with the Perfect Prep Poreless Primer, because it does a fantastic job of making my foundation last and I have full coverage for the entire night.  As someone who is onstage a lot under lights, getting hot and sometimes sweaty, it’s important for my makeup to stay put.  This primer does a great job with that, and feels pretty fantastic on my skin to boot.

Mally Beauty has a whole line of makeup products that I’d love to try as well with products for face, lips, eyes, body, and fragrance.  If these three products that I tried are any indication for the rest, this line wins 5 stars ub my Diva Glam! review:  I love them!

Eve Pearl Makeup:  www.evepearl.com
Review By:  Manda @ Mandamonium.net

Manda is my favorite makeup artist, and she manages hair and makeup for all the Diva Taunia Dolls Burlesque shows!  She reviews products for me as well, and she LOVED the Eve Pearl product line.  Here’s what she had to say:

“Let me start by saying I have been wrong only a handful of times in my life and one of those times was when I passed up buying the salmon

HD Foundation Trio A

concealer from Eve Pearl at a makeup show in NYC on year.  My fellow makeup artist friends were raving about how amazing the product is and how I just had to have it in my kit. I had purchased a pallet of concealers at a previous booth for a few hundred bucks so I passed in lieu of saving a few bucks:  big mistake!

Fast forward a few years later and I’m doing reviews for Diva Taunia’s Backstage Pass and I open up a box of goodies from Eve Pearl. Concealer Trio A which has two fair shades and the salmon shade (pictured) and a Blush Trio Spicy Cheeks Tan.  Oh. My. Goodness. I’m so in love.

I think to myself when I open up the concealer container, how good could this actually be, really? Oooooh, THAT good! Let’s start with the amazing texture, it’s oil free and feels so velvety and smooth. The blend-ability is so important and this may be one of the best I’ve ever used. You can put it on super sheer or build it to a full coverage without it looking like spackle on your face, I’ve used this on a few models with no foundation and it was beautiful. Next, longevity, I work very long days on set, and it LASTS ALL DAY. Colors are lifelike and none of that artificial coloring that matches no human being’s skin. I’m kicking myself in the behind for waiting so long to give this product a shot. I won’t be living without it anytime soon!

The blush trio is also so beautiful, the shades, though for med-tan skin tones work beautifully on my pasty white self as well, just need to use a little lighter touch. It comes with two blushes, one pink and one peach shade and a shimmery bronzer.  Great for day to night wear. This didn’t even make it into my artist kit, it went right into my personal makeup bag! I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of the Eve Pearl line.  Huge score for this Diva Glam review!

Diva Taunia Dolls Burlesque Sponsor Love:

This is the section where we give HUGE shout-out love to the costuming sponsors of our Fierce, Foxy, & Fabulous at 40! show, happening this Sunday, February 19th at The Junkyard in Nashua, NH.  These very generous sponsors have supplied us with some seriously sexy costuming, and we would love for you to help us show them some reciprocal love and visit their websites!

Divas & Goddesses

Becky has been a long-time supporter of both The Diva Taunia Dolls AND The Backstage Pass Radio Program.  My guess is that today, on Valentine’s Day, many of my listeners who have won prizes from her are walking around in a sexy little number supplied by her!  She’s got a fantastic selection of corsets, lingerie, shoes, swimwear in more and she celebrates the beauty and sex appeal of women of ALL shapes and sizes.  She’s got something for EVERYONE on her site, and that’s why I love her so much!

Check out this hot bustier/corset over here on the left.  This is being featured in our show along with a gorgeous bustle skirt that she sent me, and various other lingerie and stockings she’s provided us.  her products are really high-quality, and just absolutely gorgeous.  So go on and show Becky and Divas & Goddesses some love and get yourself all burlesque-d up too!  ♥

Kumillion Lingerie:

Kuhmillion.com

This is our first time working with Kumillion Lingerie, but Beth jumped right on board with her support – literally!  She sent us some really great booty shorts, along with some fabulous fishnet stockings and a gorgeous bustle skirt (pictured) that will be making an appearance onstage too.  Kuhmillion also offers a great plus size section, and I love, love, love their whole burlesque vibe.  Great prices, great selection, and really, really nice people.   Stop over and tell them Diva Taunia sent you!  xo

Here’s a sad little story with a very happy ending:  I recently went to curl my lashes, and ended up ripping about half of them out on my right eye (don’t ask – too much mascara in play).  So how happy was I when I opened this fantastic sponsor package to see bunches and bunches of false eyelashes in front of me??

De-Beauty saved the day, and all of the girls (including me!) are going to have sassy, long, gorgeous lashes for our show on Sunday!   They have a really amazing selection of lashes from Natural to Festive to crazy Glow In the Dark styles!  REALLY reasonably priced and easy to put on.  If you’ve never used false lashes before, now’s the time to try them out:  they make a HUGE difference when you really want a “wow!” affect.  Try some out now!

CorsetChick.com

Corset Chick:
Almost all of my solo performances are being costumed by Corset Chick!   Robert was really great and supplied me with one of my favorite new corsets - the little polka dot number pictured here.  The fit is fantastic, and the quality is really top-knotch.  Some of the best fitting corsets that I’ve come across, and Corset Chick is definitely one of my absolute favorite new sponsors.  You’ll see me prancing around in this little red number, along with this black vinyl (!) corset, which is quite frankly, going to be my favorite part of the show.  Prancing around in a black vinyl corset on my 40th birthday?  Hells yeah, that’s a good birthday!  lol   Please show them some love and stop by their site for some high-quality, great fitting new corsets!

Baci-Farfalle:
Baci-Farfalle is a long-time supporter of The Diva Taunia Dolls, and they’ve supplied us with some of our more elaborate corset costuming for each of our shows!  Often times these are the “exclusive” corsets that I wear onstage.  What I love most about them is that in addition to their HUGE selection of corsets, they have sizes ranging to 7x-9x in some styles.  Like all of the companies above, they truly celebrate diversity in women, and that’s a company I want to get behind and support.  Their customer service is top-knotch too!  I love, love, love this site and all they have to offer.
